Arbolapp Canarias: A Comprehensive Tree Identification App
Arbolapp Canarias is a free Android app developed by Real Jardín Botánico CSIC. This educational and reference app is based on scientific research conducted at the ‛Viera and Clavijo’ botanical gardens of the Canary Islands. It aims to help users identify trees in the Canary archipelago, including both native species and those commonly found in the wild.
The app features 92 tree species, each described on an information sheet with a distribution map, a brief description, and one or more photos. With two search options - directed and open - users can easily find and identify species. The app also includes around 400 illustrations and over 350 photos highlighting the characteristic details of each tree.
One of the standout features of Arbolapp Canarias is its offline functionality. Users can access all the content without an internet connection, making it ideal for outdoor excursions. The app is designed for anyone interested in learning about or expanding their knowledge of the trees found in their surroundings.
Arbolapp Canarias is a collaboration between the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Royal Botanic Garden, and the ‛Viera and Clavijo’ botanical gardens of the Canary Islands. The project has received funding from the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
